The Basket Building The Basket Building is definitely a visual treat for someone who likes to admire unique things in the world. The building is situated in Newark, Ohio, and is in the shape of a giant basket. Included in some of the weirdest buildings in the world, it houses the headquarters of Longaberger Basket Company and looks exactly like a basket. Due to its incredible shape, the building is an attraction to the tourists in the city. With an exclusive basket design, the building also sports two handles.

The Dog Park Inn Guests are heartily welcomed to this first-ever hotel/inn that is modeled after a dog. Wife and husband artists, Dennis Sullivan and Francis Conklin, are the ones who created this unique and weird masterpiece. Dennis was a chainsaw artist who had been carving wood for over 30 years. The couple used to sell hand-carved pieces and used that money to create the first-ever hotel of this sort.  And yes, your furry companion is also welcome to stay!

Bondurant’s Pharmacy The Bondurant pharmacy in Lexington, Kentucky, is quite a site to see. The pharmacy was built after the founder of the building, Joe Bondurant, returned from a trip to Las Vegas trip and decided to design a pharmacy named after him. The pharmacy was originally a mortar and a matching pestle that looked pretty much like a KFC chicken bucket. However, over time, the two-story building changed and currently it’s functioning as a drive-thru that looks like an Apple Martini.

Haines Shoehouse This building was built in 1948 by a shoe salesman who wanted to advertise his products. As a result, he modeled the structure after a boot. The building is larger than it looks in pictures. It has five stories, and the building has two bedrooms in the ankle, a kitchen in the heel, and a living room in the toe. The building is open for tours from Spring to Fall.

The Bishop Castle This house, situated in Rye, Colorado, is strange and shares a fascinating history. Architect Jim Bishop named the place after himself as it was his dream when he was young. What originally started as a plan to build a cabin later grew into something bigger and absolutely incredible. The site has become a tourist attraction and has everything defined as royal, including a grand ballroom, bridges with an excellent view, and height-defining towers.

The Aqua Tower The Aqua Tower is the tallest building in Chicago, IL.  It is an 82-story mixed-use residential skyscraper.  Along with the unique architecture, the building also houses many businesses like hotel rooms, office and condos.  Moreover, the building also holds the record for having the most extensive green roofs.  After its completion, the skyscraper was the tallest building in the world ever designed by a woman.  However, that title was surpassed in 2020 by St. Regis.

Kansas City Library If you happen to be in love with books, there is no better place to visit than the Kansas City Library.  Even if you are not an avid book reader, what a site to see! The original building was constructed in the 1870s and the unique “wall of books” was added later.

The Ray and Maria Stata Center  At first glance, you would think that this unusual building in Cambridge, Mass, is a place for fun, but it’s actually a professional establishment. Hard to believe, but this research center also has an auditorium, classrooms, fitness centers, and childcare. The architect is Frank Gehry who has designed some of the most world-renowned buildings in history.  The Ray and Maria Stata Center also combines red brick and metal, which was odd at the time it was built.

The world is full of masterpieces and non-traditional architecture. The architects and designers of these weird buildings in America have dared to think outside the box to create something unusual.  As a result, these buildings have attracted many visitors and are well-known for their uniqueness.
